Coverage That Works as Hard as You Do.

This stage of life calls for coverage that actually fits. Not a plan someone handed you because it was easy, not a default you fell into because the deadline was close. Coverage that reflects who you are, how you live, and where you are headed.

At Meridian 65, we start at the foundation and work outward. We make sure you understand Original Medicare before we discuss anything else. Then we help you evaluate your options for supplemental and prescription drug coverage based on your health, your providers, your finances, and your life.

Plan availability varies by zip code. Not all plans are available in all areas. Benefits, premiums, and cost-sharing vary by plan and location.

Everything Starts Here.

Original Medicare is administered directly by the federal government. Part A covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health services. Part B covers outpatient medical care, doctor visits, preventive services, and medically necessary services and supplies.

Most people receive Part A without a monthly premium if they or their spouse paid Medicare taxes during their working years. Part B requires a monthly premium based on your income.

Understanding what Original Medicare covers, and what it does not, is the starting point for every decision that follows. The gaps are real. Left uncovered, they can cost you significantly. The right supplemental coverage fills those gaps so your healthcare does not become a financial burden on the life you are building.

Part B Enrollment Timing

Your Initial Enrollment Period for Part B is a seven-month window: the three months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month, and the three months following. Delaying Part B enrollment without qualifying coverage from another source, such as an

active employer plan, can result in a permanent late enrollment penalty. We walk you through this before your window opens.

You cannot make a fully informed coverage decision without understanding the foundation. We make sure you do.

A Different Way to Receive Your Benefits.

Medicare Advantage is an alternative to Original Medicare offered through private insurance carriers approved and regulated by the federal government. These plans are required to cover everything Original Medicare covers, and many include additional benefits such as prescription drug coverage, dental, vision, and hearing.

Medicare Advantage plans typically operate within a provider network. If you have doctors, specialists, or health systems that are important to you, knowing whether they are in a plan’s network is one of the most critical factors in deciding whether that plan is right for your life.

We evaluate plan networks, out-of-pocket cost structures, and benefit details based on where you live, how you use healthcare, and what you have planned for the road ahead.

Enrollment Timing

You can enroll during your Initial Enrollment Period when you first become eligible for Medicare, during the Annual Enrollment Period each fall, or during a Special Enrollment Period if a qualifying life change occurs. Missing your window can limit your options and affect your costs.

Contact us before your enrollment window opens. Timing matters.

Fill the Gaps. Protect Your Peace of Mind.

Original Medicare covers a significant portion of your healthcare costs, but copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles can add up quickly, especially for people who are active, who travel, or who manage ongoing health conditions.

Medigap plans are standardized by the federal government, which means a Plan G from one carrier covers exactly the same benefits as a Plan G from another. What differs is the premium. We compare costs across the carriers we represent so you get the right coverage at the right price.

For people who want predictability, who prefer knowing what their healthcare will cost before they need it, Medigap is often the right fit. We help you figure out whether that describes you.

Enrollment Timing

Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period is a six-month window that begins on the first day of the month in which you are both age 65 or older and enrolled in Medicare Part B. During this window, insurers cannot deny you coverage or charge you more based on your health history. Once it closes, medical underwriting may apply and your options may be limited.

Some states have enacted additional Medigap protections beyond the federal standard. We will advise you on what applies where you live.

This window does not repeat. Contact us before it opens.

The Right Plan for What You Actually Take.

Part D provides prescription drug coverage through private carriers approved by the federal government. Plans vary significantly in what they cover, which pharmacies they work with, and what you pay at the counter.

Each plan maintains a formulary, a tiered list of covered medications that determines your cost. The same prescription can cost dramatically more depending on which plan you are on. Choosing the wrong plan is not a minor inconvenience. It can mean paying far more than necessary for medications you take every day.

We review your current medications and identify the Part D plans available in your area that cover them at the lowest possible cost to you. This is one of the most concrete ways we save our clients money.

One important protection to know: as of 2025, there is an annual cap on what you pay out of pocket for covered Part D prescription drugs. In 2026 that cap is $2,100. Once you reach it, your plan covers 100% of your covered drug costs for the rest of the year. This cap is indexed annually and applies to both standalone Part D plans and Medicare Advantage plans that include drug coverage. It does not apply to your monthly premium or to drugs your plan does not cover.

This is one of the most significant financial protections Medicare has added in decades. Making sure your plan is structured to work in your favor is exactly what we do.

Enrollment Timing

Part D enrollment is available during your Initial Enrollment Period, the Annual Enrollment Period each fall, and certain Special Enrollment Periods. Delaying enrollment without creditable prescription drug coverage from another source can result in a permanent late enrollment penalty added to your monthly premium.

If you are unsure whether your current drug coverage qualifies as creditable, contact us before your Initial Enrollment Period ends.

HOW WE WORK

One Conversation. Your Time Well Spent

Every Meridian 65 client works directly with an experienced advisor in a private, one-on-one consultation by phone or virtual meeting. No call centers. No rotating agents. You work with the same advisor throughout.

We begin by understanding your life, your health needs, your providers, your prescriptions, your plans, and your financial picture. Then we walk you through what is available to you clearly and completely, without pressure and without agenda.

If you choose to enroll, we handle the process with you. If you are not ready, we answer your questions and follow up when you are. There is no obligation attached to any conversation with Meridian 65.

A NOTE FOR VETERANS

You Earned More Than You May Know.

  • Many veterans assume that VA healthcare is their only option, or that Medicare is unnecessary if they already have VA coverage. This assumption, however understandable, can leave veterans without protection they have earned and in situations where a gap in coverage has real consequences.
  • VA benefits and Medicare are separate programs. In many circumstances they work alongside each other. VA benefits cover care at VA facilities for service-connected and certain other conditions. Medicare covers care outside the VA system, which matters when you are traveling, when you need a specialist, or when VA care is simply not available.
  • Enrolling in Medicare does not reduce or eliminate your VA benefits. Understanding both gives you the full picture of what you have.
  • You served. You earned every benefit available to you. We help you understand what that means in practice.

Your Coverage Should Fit Your Life. Let's Make Sure It Does.

Most people come to us with more questions than answers. That is exactly where we like to start. Schedule a no-obligation consultation and we will help you figure out where you stand and what your best options are.
